Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the Patient with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

Abstract
This case report describes the cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT) of a 36-year-old female patient with obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD), which is based on group CBT program performed in the OCD clinic of Neuropsychiatry. Therapy consisted of 16 sessions and included the behavioral approach, mainly based on exposure and response prevention(ERP) and the cognitive approach with various education and cognitive techniques. At post-therapy assessment using the patient¡¯s subjective appraisal, BDI, BAI, and Y-BOCS, the patient¡¯s OCD symptoms and anxiety were evaluated as moderately improved. Finally, the effect and limitations of CBT for OCD were discussed.
